Admission Criteria Year 7
Where the school is oversubscribed, places will be offered on the basis of the following criteria, in order of priority:
- Boys with exceptional medical or social needs including boys in Public Care; who are looked after by Tameside and boys with a Statement of Educational Needs where the school is named in the statement. (Where evidence is provided from child’s doctor or other agency that he has exceptional needs which means that admission to a particular school is essential, reference will be made to the Community Health Physician, Social Services, or Educational Psychologist, as appropriate.)
- When the boy has a brother or sister attending the school (This includes: natural sisters/brothers; half sisters/brothers; step sisters/brother; adopted sisters/brothers; sisters/brothers of fostered children, living at the same address.)
- When a preference for a single sex education is stated (A simple statement only is required). If the school’s admission number is exceeded when criterion 3 is applied, then proximity of the pupil’s home address, on distance measured as a straight line from the home address to the main gate of the school, will be applied to determine the final allocation.
- Proximity of the boy’s home to the school, with those living nearer, on distance measured as a straight line from the home address to the main gate of the school, will be accorded the higher priority.
