The football team sealed the league with a thoroughly convincing performance against an All Saints side who struggled from the off. A few changes were made to allow a few fringe players to play the full 90 and some of the usual 11 a rest for the eagerly anticipated cup tie that is approaching.
Despite how convincing the score line looks, All Saints took the lead when a long through ball evaded the whole of the back 4 and the pacey striker calmly slotted it under the oncoming keeper’. However, this was to have no bearing on the game as there was an immediate reply as the ever impressive Nathan Selby avoided the whole of the backline and then placed the ball into the top corner of the net. This was to be the start of a rampage from Audenshaw as they looked to secure the league title. After great work on the left from Gulla and Carabine the latter slotted the ball home. Jack McCormack grabbed his first of the match after Ben Pollit put in another great ball and there he was to smash home on the volley into the roof of the net. This was quickly followed by the fourth when Reece Frost played an excellent through ball to Nathan Selby who left the defence for dead as he rounded the keeper to secure a 4-1 lead at half time.
HT Audenshaw 4 – 1 All Saints
It took 40 seconds after the restart for the team to extend their lead when Dan Carabine slipped the ball under the keeper. Jack got his 2nd and 3rd of the match to seal his hat trick with a composed finish into the far corner and his 3rd after a cross from the ever dependable Alex Brodie was flicked on by Carabine and there Jack was with the emphatic finish. All Saints grabbed 2 goals back in quick succession but never really posed a serious threat at 7-3. Additional goals from, James Barnes, Karl Higham and another goal from top scorer Carabine sealed his own hat trick. Joe Leggat completed the scoring with an emphatic finish with his first goal of his senior career.
