The Business Studies department at Audenshaw aims to provide students with an interesting and comprehensive curriculum, develop student confidence, self-reliance and of course, to achieve academic success. Through studying Business Studies a host of opportunities are opened up to students and our courses are designed to provide a critical understanding of the subject. Business Studies will help develop skills such as problem solving, team-working, research and analytical evaluation of data, which are all highly prized by the majority of employers as this combination of technical skills and understanding of the business world are positive selling points in a competitive employment market. The subject is especially helpful to those who are interested in future careers in self-employment, a business profession or management.
Taking Business Studies will enable students to gain a practical understanding of how businesses operate and why business decision making is so important. We aim to blend academic rigour with the development of practical skills by promoting active rather than passive understanding through focusing on the contemporary business world. Knowledge relevant to businesses in the 21st century is embodied in the curriculum content and we encourage the practical application of business concepts by using up to date relevant business examples.
