Film Club Premiere

On 16th June 2011 a number of students were chosen to visit the Lowry Cinema ‘Vue’ to see the first showing in the North-West of ‘Life In A Day’, a new film directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King Of Scotland) and Ridley Scott (Gladiator).

Mrs Carter, Mrs Downing, Mrs Lomas and Mrs Warren took 26 Year 7, 8 and 9 students to the Lowry Cinema to view this new film. After a coach drive to the cinema we took our seats and waited for the film to begin. The film was very interesting and we all learnt a lot about how other people all over the world live their daily lives.

After the film the pupils took part in a question and answer session with the director himself. Just after this we received some very good news. Our school had been selected to nominate one pupil to appear on Newsround (CBBC) and be interviewed by one of the presenters-Hayley Cutts. Aidan Balfe (9A) was the lucky pupil to be interviewed. How scary for Aiden, he had to be interviewed with the rest of us watching him, but he looked like a pro!!

Overall, it was a great experience and we all learnt a lot from it.
