The Audenshaw Under 14’s enjoyed a particularly successful day at The Stockport Grammar School U14 Seven A Side competition on Tuesday afternoon. The red and whites won all of their group games with relative ease defeating Wirral Grammar (17-5), Bolton School (32-0) and Wilmslow High School (19-5) thus qualifying for the semi final stages as group winners.
Audenshaw suffered a poor start to the game conceding two early tries but responded in style to dominate the later stages and level matters with tries from speedsters Danny Haughton and Jack Johnson. Both of whom both enjoyed highly successful tournaments.
The failed conversion attempt from the equalising try saw the game go into a period of sudden death over time in which Audenshaw hearts were to be broken with the awarding of a try by the official to the home side despite the failure of the Stockport player to ground the ball.
Disappointment aside, Audenshaw left with heads held high and pride intact after another impressive outing for the dominant U14’s.
Squad: Christian (c), Chipchase, Worsley, Ciccharillo, Wilson, Beswick, Johnson, Walters, Murray, Winbow, Haughton, Fitton, Grantmyre, Cole, Barratt.
Man of the Tournament: Ciaran Beswick.
