School Profile

The school has enjoyed another successful year with examination results being the best in Tameside. Analysis of the value we add to pupils’ attainment was very good when measured against national standards.


Audenshaw School

Key Stage 3

The percentage of pupils achieving a level 5 or above in the core subjects was as follows:

English 93%
Mathematics 90%
Science 87%

The value added for all learner groups exceeded the national average.


Key Stage 4

  • 75% of boys achieved 5 A*-C which met our target of 74%.
  • The average points score was 381.7.
  • The percentage of boys achieving 5 A*-C including English and Maths was 20.8% higher than the figure for England.
  • The value added from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 put the school in the top 10% of schools in England.
  • English and Maths value added ranked the school in the top 25% and top 15% respectively.
  • 97% of boys achieved 5 A*-G grades compared with 90% in England and 91% in Tameside.
  • 21.6% of all grades were classified as A* and A.
  • 50.5% of boys achieved A* to C grades in at least 9 subjects.

There were some exceptional performances at GCSE. Two boys were commended, by AQA, for being amongst the top five performers in English Literature. One boy was also commended for being in the top five performers in French in the Country.

Audenshaw School

In Sport our rugby teams had excellent seasons and Phillip Leigh went on to represent the North of England two boys also represented Lancashire at U16 level. In football our year 7 and year 9 teams were Tameside champions. In basketball our U14 and U15 teams were Tameside champions. In cricket the U13 team were beaten in the semi final of the Lancashire Cup with 2 boys representing Lancashire at this age group. In athletics Simon Horsfield won the English Schools 3000 metres championship and our U15 athletics team reached the regional final of the English Schools Athletics Cup and won the Tameside Championships. In table tennis our U14 team had a successful year winning the County Cup and the North West Championship.
