Audenshaw School was one of the first schools to become involved in Initial Teacher Training with Manchester University. It now has partnership training programmes with both the Manchester University and the MMU. The school has subject mentors in English, Maths, Science (Chemistry and Biology), Technology, Business Studies, MFL, PE, English with SEN and History. As part of the development of ITT, the school is currently training a Mentor for RE .In 2004 the school took its first student through the Graduate Teacher Programme for ICT and is currently running the GTP for English. The school also supports and runs a training programme for Fast Track teachers and has been involved with trialling as well as developing training packages for the TDA. All this involvement in ITT naturally leads into the NQT programme which supports the continuing development of newly qualified staff joining the school. Subject mentors see involvement in mentoring as very rewarding and as part of their own continuing professional development.
