Really proud of each of these boys for representing their school today at the Tameside Spelling Bee at Great Academy. Each of the boys took part in a heat, against other pupils their age, from other schools. The event was watched not only by other competitors and accompanying staff but the entirety of Great Academy`s Year 7. It`s a daunting task for anyone to stand in front of that many people and speak, but they did it. I hope they are as proud of themselves for their efforts as I am. Well done boys. #exceptionalyoungmen #proud #spellingbee

And just like that, an era ends.
The Y11s have played their final full match together for Audenshaw School in a very tough contest with Merchant Taylors Crosby.
These boys have had highs and lows together and will have superb memories of their times wearing the red and white hoops. Their most notable achievement came in year 9 when they won the Lancashire Schools` Plate Competition beating St. Edwards College in the final.
Some of the boys will be lucky enough to have one last run around in some rugby 7s but, as far as full sided rugby goes, they`re done and now it`s really time to turn the focus to exam success.
Good luck gents and always remember - #CarpeDiem.

This week is Children`s Mental Health Week and National Storytelling week. According to the National Literacy Trust, reading for as little as 10 minutes per day can have a positive impact on mental health. In the library, we have book recommendations for National Storytelling Week which have been chosen to fit the theme `Reimagining Your World`. There is also a competition running this week to promote reading for pleasure. The boys have been invited to collect information from staff on their current reads. Winners of the competition will win vouchers or chocolate. The last picture shows a collection of Padlet and Pixl recommendations as well. #readingforpleasure #childrensmentalhealthweek #bookrecommendations
