Students opt-in to Music at the end of Year 8 (for Year 9) and do Music instead of 2 of their Games lessons per fortnight. All students do games and have additional access to an extensive programme of extra-curricular sporting activities. They choose again if they want to continue Music as a GCSE option as they do for their other subjects at the end of Year 9.

Life skills is taught in form times across all year groups and in dedicated periods for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10. In Year 11, it is taught in form time and through additional ‘drop-down’ days.

Ethics – in rotation with games

Triple Science is an option in Year 10, this is currently an accelerated academic pathway. In addition to the 8 hours of teaching in the Science Curriculum per fortnight, students receive an additional 5 hours of time in the Option block. Within that time, the students will have 4 hours of each of the three Sciences: Biology, Chemistry and Physics and 1 hour of GCSE Statistics to support them towards the highest GCSE grades.

Religious Education is taught for 2 hours a fortnight in Year 10 and Ethics is taught on rotation with Games in Year 11. All students in Year 11 doing Games and Ethical Debate have additional access to an extensive programme of extra-curricular sporting activities.

Students in Year 11 have the option to sit additional GCSEs as appropriate. These have included Urdu, Italian and Persian for example.
