At Audenshaw School we pride ourselves on three core values of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. To empower young men through the three core values, we have a rich Student Leadership offer which allows our young men to experience real Leadership positions and applications.

The most privileged group of Student Leaders are the Senior Prefects. Following success in their roles as prefect (amongst other opportunities discussed below), the Senior Prefects apply for their positions through a rigorous application process. Those selected each take an area of responsibility within the school to lead and develop. The Head Boys oversee the entire operation with the help of Mr Sutherland, our Student Leadership Lead.

The Head Boys for 26-27 are L Bowen, H Melling and M Hussain.

The Senior Prefect Team have selected to undertake the following roles of responsibility in the school and each one aims to grow and develop their own programme with assistance from other staff in the School. 2026-27 brings about a very exciting time for Student Leadership as this group embark on the first journey in a new format whereby they can support the enrichment lunch time offer for all Audenshaw Students.

A Horapeti will take a leadership role in ‘Carpe Diem’ and encouraging the school body to ‘seize the day’

V Horapeti will take a leadership role in inspiring young leaders and work with KS3 House Captains.

O Hardy will take a leadership role in transition and be a prominent figure in the community.

K Bennett will take a leadership role in mentoring, caring and inclusivity where he will guide some of our vulnerable students on the Audenshaw pathway.

L Teggart will take a leadership role in Sports and Sports Leadership.

All other Senior Prefects will take responsibility in the organisation of planning and supporting charity events and other enrichment opportunities including those listed below:

Literacy leaders run competitions in literacy and reading, support our library and support our weaker readers in improving their literacy ability.

Language leaders feature heavily in local primary schools, promoting a love of modern languages and learning.

Sports leaders assist our PE department in the smooth running of inter-form events and lunchtime activities.

The Eco team, a new initiative this year, will look at ways to improve our carbon footprint and help the environment and local communities.

The Charity Team help to organise fund raisers in school and raise money for local charities. Our boys have demonstrated for a number of years to be very charitable, caring and generous.

Student Mentors aid our more vulnerable year 7s and assist them to have a smooth transition into secondary school.

Prefect Standards teams ensure high standards are met by all prefects and support the prefect duty rota.

Science/Stem leaders support our superb Science and D&T Departments in running a STEM club, challenging younger students in science, maths, engineering etc. They regularly enter National Competitions in Science/STEM such as designing and racing a motorised car!

The School Council is represented by two students from each form group who promote ideas and agendas and feed back to our Senior Leaders in the School on development and improvement initiatives. We have a “You Asked, We Did” campaign to show students our commitment to their voice.

The Personal Development lead words with staff in school to ensure student voice is active and heard in our Personal Development programmes.

The Pupil Premium lead liaises with staff to ensure that the best possible school experience is given to our Pupil Premium students.

Student Leadership is an integral part of the process at Audenshaw School. We empower young voices now because they are the future!
